I always say: Before crafting a strategy, take the time to analyze what happened previously. There's a lot to learn from the past, and the future should be a continuation of what we achieved, combined with corrections for the mistakes we made. This way, we can start making new mistakes! By the way, this is what I wish for all of you: to fail often and fail boldly. Why? Because failure is the only proof that you're trying new things and stepping out of your comfort zone.
I'm feeling optimistic about 2025. I believe 2024 was merely a preparation for this year. That’s why I decided to create a recap of the most notable marketing campaigns from 2024. By reflecting on these creative successes, we can expand our vision and, as the saying goes, dream big.
Ladies and gentlemen, here are what I consider to be the top 10 most interesting, creative, and impactful campaigns of 2024.
1- Visit Oslo's 'Anti-Advertising' Campaign
For me, this campaign is by far the best campaign made in 2024. The way that video engages audiences with its reverse psychology approach, adding a touch of humour, is just impressive and really pleasing to watch.
2- Specsavers' 'Should've Gone to Specsavers'
This one for me is the most hilarious advertisement of 2024.
The advert cleverly portrays everyday moments where a lack of proper vision leads to hilarious misunderstandings or mistakes.
A perfect example of how humor and brand consistency can create memorable marketing.
3- Nike - WHAT IF YOU CAN?
A video shot in Saudi Arabia portrays the protagonist seamlessly transitioning between everyday situations and sports actions, emphasizing that simple daily activities can evolve into athletic skills.
4- British Airways | Everywhere We Go
The fourth and fifth places go to British Airways for emphasizing human connection. They sell experiences and feelings.
"Everywhere We Go" highlights the airline's role in connecting travelers to diverse destinations and experiences around the world.
5- British Airways | Your Family in the Skies
This campaign emphasizes British Airways' commitment to diversity and inclusivity, portraying their crew as a "family in the skies" for travelers from all walks of life. Featuring an Indian family, it highlights the airline’s personalized care and ability to make everyone feel at home, regardless of their background.
6- Jif's "The Merger" campaign
launched in June 2024, humorously parodies corporate boardroom dramas to introduce its new peanut butter and chocolate-flavored spread. The centerpiece is a 90-second film featuring J. Smith-Cameron, known for her role in "Succession," portraying a CEO orchestrating the merger between The Peanut Butter Group and Chocolatey Corp.
7- "Owning Manhattan" Netflix Series
I work mainly in real estate, so I had to include something related to my field.
Owning Manhattan is a Netflix series that follows real estate mogul Ryan Serhant as he leads one of New York's largest firms, guiding his team through the competitive world of luxury real estate.
The show focuses on showcasing the prestige and exclusivity of luxury real estate in New York City.
8- Vista imperméable
I couldn’t write this article without mentioning the craziest and most creative campaign of 2024 from my native country: Algeria!
Vista imperméable means "Waterproof jacket," and Merrouche Zakaria humorously tests the waterproof capabilities of a jacket in various extreme situations, from diving into the sea to being sprayed in a store.
The campaign was praised for its creativity and relatability, making it one of the most memorable ads in Algeria.
9 - Coca-Cola's AI-Generated Holiday Ads
The main goal of this ad is to show that Coca-Cola are capable of using the cost-saving technology. They want to signal to the Street that they are trying to get cheaper and faster with their creative services.
Marketing professionals and consumers alike mocked logos that they describe as badly rendered, shiny faces and distorted proportions.
10- Jaguar's Controversial Rebranding Campaign
I'm always trying to be objective and fair, and the fact that I included Jaguar's rebranding campaign is proof of my sincerity.
I was extremely disappointed by what Jaguar did, and I still am. However, this advertisement was one of the most famous ones in 2024.
